Training Up Our Children In The Way They Should Go

8Most of us parents, if not all…wants the BEST for our children. In the entirety of being a parent, have we ever questioned ourselves: Am I training my children to be what I want them to be? Or are these things that I want them to achieve are the very things God wants for their lives? As I read the scripture in Proverbs 22:6 that says “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.” the words “THE WAY HE SHOULD GO” struck me the most.  I began to ask myself…How will I know if I am training up my child in the right way?  I am pretty sure, all of us desire to be successful and victorious in our roles as parents despite the world’s mixed up system of family values.

We can have a certain level of training and expertise in performing our functions in different areas of careers and tasks assigned to us, but when it comes to being a parent, we don’t need a professional training or experience to excel in this field. A parent’s greatest responsibility is to teach and train their children.  We cannot really have succedded anywhere else if we fail towards parenting. Parenthood can be a challenging adventure in developing and guiding our children to build a healthy relationship with their families, friends and most of all God.

I may not come from a perfect family, my parents may not have raised me into somebody that they or God wanted me to be, but my heart desires to help parents to look deeply into their dreams and aspirations for their children. Many verses from the Bible will be used in this article, it will serve as our guide in honing future adults live their lives according to God’s perfect plan and purpose for them.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

From the moment I knew God as my creator and Jesus Christ my saviour, I have tried my best to always put Him first, the very reason I placed this chapter on top.  It is a “must” for us parents to talk to our children about God and its importance in their upbringing. It is essential that our children know that their lives are not accidental, their existence is meaningful and they have a PURPOSE.

It is a marvelous feeling when God blesses us with a little child in our homes. I delivered my first baby girl at home at the age of 19.  Although me and my husband were not ready to be parents at that young age, we have mixed emotions of excitement, worries, fears, doubts but most of all joy and love. We knew from the moment we saw her, she is REAL! When a child comes into this world, God equipped him to mature into a unique person capable of thinking, reasoning and relating with other human beings.  There should be a realization on our part that God is giving us the opportunity to bring out the BEST in each and every little angel’s life. From conception to birth to the very first months and years of a child, a parent influences him towards good and evil.

GOD has a plan for our lives including your child’s life.  That plan is perfect since God is the supreme architect-engineer-designer of creation. Each and every single person MATTERS to Him.

Psalms 139

13 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well. Ok
15 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.

We may not fully comprehend all the reasons and circumstances why God chose us to parent the children given to us, one thing is for sure – He can never go wrong, He is perfect in all of His ways . We have to dig deeper on our Creator’s instructions and His principles of life and living.  God provided us His manual to righteous, holy and dignified life—the BIBLE. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16). We are the physical representation of what God, values, spirituality and love is all about.  Afterall, parents who mentors their children about God is on the right track!

Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Most of us have read, heard and believed in the concept that “we were all created in the image of God”, but a few of us have totally grasped the deep-seated significance of its meaning.  The basis for the dignity and purpose of our life and work can be founded on the idea that we were made in God’s image, through this reflection we will be able to understand not only our significance and worth, but that of our children, too.

The above-mentioned verse is the underlying principle why I considered “No bad children-No bad parents” to be the title of this chapter. Our worth is attached to our Creator. If God is of great and immeasurable worth, then human beings made in his image must be of great value, too. The people we see and meet every day, even the children entrusted to us to whom we sometimes give little regard, are not ordinary in God’s eyes.  Yes, there can be “bad relationships” between parents and their children despite the good intentions on both sides, but these conflicts can be avoided if we can find creative ways of dealing with our disagreements .  As mom and dad, sometimes we concentrate solely on training, shaping and molding our young ones to become what we want them to be. We often notices the “negatives”–their flaws, their mistakes, their errors and label them as “BAD” or worse we  may raise them as angry young rebels.  Whether we admit it or not, we do this because we do not see the bigger picture of their uniqueness and the truth that there are no duplicates.  They are the original.  We cannot make them to be what they are not. Although our intentions are good, we cannot live our dreams through them.  Let us learn to be sensitive to look, to listen and to learn what makes them different and help them to draw it out of them—being the best of their own masterpiece. Forcing them into something they cannot be, will cause them to label us as “bad” as well.  Let us help them to believe in themselves, know their worth and perhaps in the near future they would be able to say to themselves: I am the “ONLY  ME” that there has ever been and ever will be.

God is pleased to bless you!

received_1302880809802555Chronicles 17:27 states “Now you have been pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you, for it is you, O LORD, who have blessed, and it is blessed forever.”

      Everyday as we face different trials and problems, we sometimes forget that there is a Supreme Being waiting for us to call on Him. God wants to bless each and every one of us because He truly loves us. Oftentimes, we focus on how big our problems are and sets aside the truth that God is bigger than any of these circumstances. We rely on our emotions and end up drained from all the tears, fears and frustrations.

       My life verse found in Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Isn’t it amazing that the Creator of the universe promises us these words? We may not understand some of the things that is happening in our lives, but we have the assurance that all the plans of the Lord for us are perfect.

     I have been through many trials in life but I believe God has been faithful to sustain me.  During those times that I still don’t have a deeper relationship with the Lord, I try to find solutions on my own. I don’t inquire of Him, nor ask wisdom for the decisions I make.  I only turn to Him as my last resort, which I believe grieves His heart. Human being as I am, often I am eaten up by my pride. I refuse to accept help and hesitant to admit I need one. Later on, I would feel helpless and tired of dealing with all the storms that bombards me. With no one to turn to, I surrender everything to the mighty hands of my Creator.

     Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. God gave us freewill to decide for ourselves whether we allow Him to take charge or not. We have to make the first step of drawing near to Him so that He can fully bless us. It is not His will for us to suffer, be sick or experience problems much than that we cannot bear. If only we will learn how to humble ourselves before our God, He will be more than willing to receive us and bless us in all areas of our lives.

God’s blessings go far beyond anything we could ever dream of.

An Invitation

First of all, let me thank you for taking time to accept this invitation to read what my heart desires for you.  My prayer is that you will be blessed with what I will share and that the Holy Spirit gives you wisdom and understanding. I have considered you a friend and the fire that keeps on burning in my heart pushes me to impart God’s promises for us. Let me start by telling you a part of my journey in knowing God.👣👣👣

When my daughter died in 1998, my mind started to question…Where could she possibly be? Is this a curse from our Creator? Is He angry? That time I didn’t have a deeper relationship with God, but I knew He exists. I pray to Him but I don’t know if He really answers. I remembered opening the bible that time, only when we tried to look for a verse to be pinned in a long white cloth during her wake.   It was the saddest 💔 time of my life as a mother. I felt so much pain that I started to feel nothing.

After the burial, I was so drained I cannot shed a tear anymore. I felt so weak and started to get numb. Maybe God has been compassionate, that He brought me to sleep. He gave me a dream and it was the most beautiful dream I ever had. When I fell asleep,I saw my little girl, she was wearing a soft, lightweight, white as snow dress, she seems so weightless that she only goes along with the wind..going up, not looking back and up and away from me, behind the clouds…and there she was, it looks like heaven to me. Many years have past, but I still shed a tear everytime I remember that dream, or was that really just a dream? Maybe it was one of the answers I was trying to find.

Questions in my mind continued to bother me,and I pray that it will bother you, too. Am i being harsh now? Not really. That time I was bombarded by uncertainties. Will I be able to see my daughter again? Will she recognize me? Will i be able to hug her and kiss her there? If I die, will I go to heaven? Have you ever tried to ask yourself these questions? How about your parents, your children, your siblings, your friends? By now, I hope you’re getting the bigger picture.👍

Hebrews 9:27 says,”Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”

I am now inviting you to examine yourself. Do not wait ⏳ for you to lose a loved one or worst to breathe your last before you work out on your salvation. I may have lost a precious angel, but through that circumstance, I gained Jesus in my heart. The quest for me is not yet over. But one thing I am now sure of, that God is real and He sent us his son Jesus Christ to die for us. I may only be your friend in facebook, but God is using me to be an instrument to reach out to you. This is not an accident. God wants all of us to be with Him in heaven when the time comes.👏👏👏

Romans 3:23 says,”for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” All of us (no one is exempted), were sinners. But, it doesn’t stop there…

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is DEATH, but the GIFT of God is ETERNAL LIFE in Christ JESUS our Lord.”.. It clearly states that because we are all sinners, we are doomed to die. But if we confess our inequities and accept Jesus in our lives, we will live eternally with God in heaven. Isn’t that a great promise?☝☝☝

To read this message is my invitation to you as a friend. But as your Lord and savior,  Jesus is now inviting you to open your heart ❤ to Him. Ask Him to cleanse you from all unrighteousness and allow Him to rule your life, starting today. Be filled with God’s promises by the reading of the Bible 📑. Seek God, while He may be found.

God bless you and keep you. 💝💝💝
